Mattagiana is not a formal business or campground. It’s a personal piece of land we open to like-minded travelers who value simplicity, nature, and mutual respect. We keep things small and quiet—just a handful of guests at a time. If you’re thinking of coming by, feel free to ask ahead about availability.

We welcome contributions to help sustain this space.
As a reference, most guests donate around €20–25 per night for two people.

Mattagiana Nature Retreat is a place to slow down and meet nature as it is.
Open land—lush and green in spring, warm and dry in summer. Wide views by day. Clear skies and starlight by night. No light pollution. Just wind, birds, and the quiet rhythm of the valley. There’s no parking lot feeling—just vast, open space. Kids can run free. Chickens roam. Nature leads the pace, not schedules.

Canoe the Temo River, bike the coast, hike the hills, or just wander into town for a gelato.
Bosa offers a vibrant mix of quiet corners, colorful streets, and cultural events throughout the year. The sea is just 10 minutes away by car, with beaches for swimming, sunning, or watching the sunset. From wild trails to slow city walks—there’s space to explore.

Care and Share

Mattagiana is more than a place to pitch a tent.
It’s a living project rooted in care for the land and how we relate to it.
Located 4 km outside Bosa, this space is slowly growing into an eco-farm with principles of permaculture and agroforestry at its core. The land is not controlled—it’s listened to. Work and travel guests are welcome to join and help tend the land, share skills, and be part of this quiet experiment.

Beaches nearby

Just a short ride from Mattagiana lies the medieval town of Bosa and its beach, Bosa Marina—perfect for a swim, a walk, or a quiet drink by the sea.

Follow the coast toward Alghero and you’ll find hidden gems like Cumpoltitu, Cala ‘e Moro, and Managu.
Wild, scenic, and close enough for a morning dip or a sunset pause.

We've stayed at Mattagiana twice in the last couple of years, (both times as volunteers). We love it! It is one of our favourite places in the whole of Sardinia - the land is in a beautiful tucked away valley, just a short drive from Bosa (a beautiful town) and a selection of wonderful beaches.

Last time we stayed with Katja and Giuseppe we loved to watch them work with the sheep. It was such fun to feel part of the farm. The vegetables from their garden were delicious and we could watch them grow during our 1 month stay. Looking forward to come back soon!

The best thing about the camping site is the close distance to Bosa while being totally in the beautiful nature. It is a great place to relax, have the kids run and play and enjoy the birds singing at sunup and sunset. Exactly what we were looking for to slow down and unplug from daily life.
